Beauty and the Beast

For the Beauty they say,
Beautiful,
Words of satisfaction.
Certified attraction,
Pleasure to behold,
Etcetera.

For the Beast they say,
Beastly,
Words of distaste.
Disgust, repulsion.
Etcetera.

For the Beauty I say,
What if,
Just what if,
Beneath,
All that beauty is ugly?
What if,
A little closely,
Beneath,
All that perfume is stench?
Have you not seen the Carrion flower?
A beauty from afar.
But little closer,
The smell of disaster.
Beautiful disaster.

For the Beast I say,
What if,
Just what if,
Beneath,
All that rugged is beauty?
Have you not seen the Geode?
Rugged rock.
Just beneath its face,
Crystals. Beauty.
Rugged beauty.

Perception;
A thin line,
Between the known,
And the unknown.
Reality does not exist here.
