The Women's Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) has
collaborated with Impact University of Aberdeen-United Kingdom to set up a
maternity data bank at Irrua Specialist Hospital in Edo State.
Its effort to promote the health and well being of women and adolescents in Africa in the area of sexual and
reproductive health through systematic research and documentation has led to
the urgent need to improve maternal, neonatal and child health outcomes in
Nigeria.
Deputy Executive Director of the
organisation, Dr. Wilson Imongan, said the data bank would further enhance
evidence based research in the identification of possible and preventable
causes of maternal mortality in Nigeria and in Africa at large.
