#Ramadan1436AH Day 15: The Iblis Sickness

Fast forward past the creation of Adam. Past how he knew the names of things when the rest of creation didn’t. Past where Allah commands the angels to bow before Adam

Press play.

Everyone bowed down but Iblis.

He stated his reasons clearly; “I’m better than him. You created me from fire and You created him from clay.” [7:12]

Allah’s verdict after his damnation is this, “…he was arrogant and became among the disbelievers.” [38:74]

Now think about the times you were arrogant to Allah’s command.

Think about the times you tried to justify what Allah has made haram.

Think about the times someone reminded you of one of Allah’s command and you literally told the person off.

A lot of the time, we tell people to back off and say “don’t judge me”. But deep down, if we told ourselves the honest truth, its arrogance a lot of the time. May Allah save us from it.

Think of your over-bloated sense of self. Your “I AMs” and “I DIDs” and your “I’m the centre of The Universe”.

Now look at Shaytan’s argument of saying he was better.

Think about the times you put someone down because they are from a particular race, or country, or tribe you feel is lesser than yours. Think about the times you felt you had superior intellect over another.

Think about the times you felt you were better than someone else in the sight of Allah because of your piety!

At this point, it’s hard to tell the difference between you and the devil

The only advantage we have as human beings is the power of repentance.

May Allah forgive us and wipe our hearts of any trace of pride and arrogance.

Remember, The Prophet (SAW) said, “No one who has an atom’s-weight of Pride in his heart will enter Paradise.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, what if a man likes his clothes and his shoes to look good?” He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty, Pride means rejecting the truth and looking down on people.” [Sahih Muslim]

The mistakes are mine and Allah knows best.
