#Ramadan1436AH Day 5: The Power Of The Heart

I’m going to make this as simple as possible.

You are alone in the house, hungry, so hungry that all you can do is think about food. So you sit there, and think about cooking rice, all morning, all evening. You sit there, till the hunger makes your brain spin, thinking of how much you want rice.

Then someone comes and cooks rice. But because you’ve thought about the rice so much, and taken ‘mind over matter’ too seriously, you remain quiet, thinking about how much you love and want rice, till the hunger eats its way to your heart, and you die.

That escalated quickly.

In truth, the completion of faith according to the great Commenter of the Qur’an and companion of the prophet, Ibn Abbass (RA), faith is:

i.                    Conviction in the heart

ii.                  Declaration with the tongue, and

iii.                Implementation with the limbs.

It’s great if good begins from the heart, as it shows sincerity, but it must not remain there.

Remember that the heart will not carry a kettle, perform wudu, and do ablution. Neither can it boil rice. Because obviously, Allah gave us speech, and limbs for a reason. Use it.

May Allah give us the willpower to get up and get stuff done for His Sake.

The mistakes are mine and Allah knows best.
