"As for those who spend their property by night and by day, secretly, they shall have their reward from their Lord and they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. Q2:274"
The United for Kids Foundation (UKF) held a superlative ball to raise funds and create awareness on the activities of the organization. The event was held on Friday, 12th October 2012 at the Clear Essence California Spa and Wellness Resort, Ikoyi, Lagos.
UKF is a non profit organization established in 2002 for charitable and educational activities targeting the less privileged children in Nigeria. The organization is committed to fighting poverty and illiteracy through education and social welfare programmes. Their goal is to alleviate the suffering and discomfort of children from low income homes. The organization has achieved by selecting teaching hospitals and orphanages and distributing essential materials to pupils, building needed school facilities such as libraries and taking children on school excursion.
UKF began establishing and maintaining functional libraries within the Nigerian public elementary schools in 2010 and have donated over 10,000 school bags, 100,000 notebooks and over 30,000 pens, pencils and crayon to children from low income families since 2008. UKF has also spent over $50,000 on relief programmes for sick children from low income families admitted at the LASUTH since 2004.
Some of the beneficiaries include Children Transit Home (CTH), Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice (HOG), Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja General Hospital and various other public schools around Lagos. 1one4 magazine’s writer Ms. Tope G. Fajingbesi, a coordinating trustee of the organization ensured that the ball lived up to expectation. Most importantly, funds were raised to continue the empowerment programmes of more under privileged children. www.unitedforkidsfoudation.org. Photography credit: Crystal Wyse Photography.
